Statement

My current paintings connect the past to the present, both in my personal life and in society. I compare my own childhood innocence and ever evolving leaps away from the past as parallel to society’s constant drive toward industry and technology. Both result in a seemingly common existence that is left antiquated, and often romanticized.

I often incorporate animals as symbolic characters because they posses instinctual qualities as well as historical cultural symbolism. I look to their timelessness for both contradiction and recognition in establishing my position in time and place.
